Learn how to design human systems that mimic natural systems, using a minimum of energy and resources and creating real abundance and social justice. We will cover principles and ethics, reading the landscape, how to heal soil and cleanse water, design integrated systems, harvest water, drought-proof land, build soil, sequester carbon, make compost, compost tea, and biochar, bio-remediate toxins, and more. Explore the solutions to climate change, and the strategies and organizing tools that can put them into place. Join Starhawk, Charles Williams and an all star cast for Earth Activist Training’s FIRST fully online Permaculture Design Certificate Course. We have been teaching this course for 20 years and now are adapting our teaching skills to the needs of the moment. We are excited to share with our global Earth Activist friends, family, and new community!
Dreaming a more sustainable future is on the agenda for many, especially with Climate Change and Pandemic creating and very unusual situation for us all this summer. What does your future life look like? What steps can you take to proactively reduce your footprint while making life better? If this future includes a (more) natural home, read on… Future homeowners often don’t get much of a chance to spend time on the land they plan to build on. Yet getting to know the land is a personal journey that can be both eye-opening and rewarding. Why not plan your ‘staycation’ right where you dream your house to be? Experience the gifts from nature that will contribute to your life, the relationships with flora and fauna. Watch where the sun rises and sets, enjoy a full moon in place. By the way, did you know that the path of the full moon in the sky is seasonally opposite to the sun? This means when you watch the full moon in July it will tell you the sun’s path in January- in mid winter. From these observations you can find out if you have good solar access when it matters most, because in the winter months the rays of the sun can warm up your earthen floor to help stay cozy.
The Natural Building Colloquium is a gathering for natural building enthusiasts: builders, teachers, professionals, and those who are passionate about natural building. It is a place to exchange the latest developments in practical applications and technology and share ideas with other people in the field. We will look at where the natural building movement stands in regards to professional support, permits, and finding qualified builders.
OUR “Lawful Permaculture” Demonstration Site & Education Centre is an immersion of a wide range of natural buildings that are cob, straw bale, rammed earth, earthship/tire, living roofs, or rubble trench foundations and are all permitted and engineered. Whether you are a green builder, regulatory official, designer, or home owner/builder, this (un)conference will open the doors for whole new ways of understanding ecological design and building.
